In Memory of Katerina Sotiropoulos

Aug. 31, 2020

We are deeply saddened to share that we have lost one of our own - a Shark, a captain, a teammate, and a friend. On August 19, 2020 Katerina passed unexpectedly and suddenly without warning.  She was 18 years old.

Katerina, or Kat to her teammates, was such an outstanding and driven individual. She was the captain of her midget team for 2 consecutive years. Her smile would light up the room and her attitude was always brimming with positivity, kindness, and enthusiasm. Whenever a teammate had an issue, Kat would always be there for them. She had a heart of gold and would genuinely listen and empathize. She led from the front and always helped guide her teammates through adversity. Her encouraging “go GO go!” could be heard from the bench whenever one of her teammates was making a break. But when the going got tough, that’s when she shined most. Kat would rally her teammates no matter what the scenario was. Her positive energy inspired everyone. She was the embodiment of respect, and all that is best in humanity and hockey.

There aren’t enough words to describe what an incredible person Katerina was. She will be deeply missed by everyone, but forever remembered and in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing her.
